I liked a metaphor i recently read about maya (illusion) - the world is taken as a blank screen and our mind (the projector) is pouring images onto it. We are unable to see truth as it really is, we only see that which our mind creates and projects. meditation is merely the method to stop the projector so the world can be seen as it is... we have rarely, if ever, looked upon reality without the projection of the mind.

More on Desire, Choice, Mind & Ego

Desire means rejection of something.
Rejection comes from the mind through the mechanism of choice.
Ego exists through rejection; when you say No ego is strengthened.

Desirelessnss means acceptance.
be choiceless and accept what is..... move with it

Tao on Choice

Results arise when you desire; consequence is part of the inner law of existence. That inner law is Tao. Consequence has nothing to do with you or your waiting. It happens on its own accord. Desire comes from the mind... How to drop desire. drop the mind? - The mind lives though choice. If you dont choose the mind drops...

Life comes as it comes - it floats. Dont make an effort to reach anywhere. Dont move towards a goal; enjoy the moment in its totality and dont be bothered by the future or the past. This is what Lao Tzu calls wu wei- the sage manages affairs without action - move but remain unmoving inside...

"Sitting silently, doing nothing, the spring comes and the grass grows by itself. This sitting silently is not avoiding life. Sitting silently is searching for life, the very source of life. And the moment you have found the source, everything grows by itself, just like when spring comes, the grass grows by itself."
